I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! This was one of my favorite chants as a kid. My parents would load us up in the car on a Sunday afternoon and drive to the local ice cream stand. I say local, it was about 5 miles away, which is local when you live in the mountains. My favorite was black raspberry vanilla swirl. If that wasn’t available it was mint chocolate chip in a sugar cone….. Those were the simple, carefree days.

Recapture some of those youthful memories with Sweet Treat, featuring Dear Stella’s Summer Lovin’ fabric collection. It has an appliqued medallion of ice cream cones, surrounded by colorful pinwheels. If you use fusible applique, the quilt can be made relatively quickly. This 72-inch square quilt is great for a summer throw at camp or on a picnic.

One of my pattern testers, Patricia Deisch, made this quilt top in her favorite fabrics. It reminds me of the black raspberry ice cream I loved as a kid. Isn’t it just yummy!

I hope you enjoy this quilt pattern as much as I do.

Happy Quilting!
