Do you have a few things in your sewing studio that are totally unrelated to sewing, but you like to have with you?

Mine may seem childish, but I have a collection of teddy bears. They sit atop my bookshelves.

George is my most beloved bear. George went everywhere with me as a child. So, he is pretty tattered, but not torn.

Most of my bears were gifts from my mother, when I was old enough to take good care of them. So, they have sentimental value. She gave me one for every season.

This little gem is for Valentine’s Day. She has a cute little heart locket and is holding her own bear. She seemed the appropriate subject for a non-traditional Valentine’s Day photo.

This palette was a little bit of a challenge. I had to make some of the tints and tones in EQ8 for the color palette. Ironically, Hoffman’s 1895 Collection had just what I needed. This pink might be a little too blue, but it is pretty close!

For a pattern, I had to stretch a little bit. This is Impressionistic. I tried to match the ratio of colors, while keeping the balance in the pattern. That meant using a hint of black, and letting my tans do all the work!

As usual, I pulled in a guest fabric. This time it was Hoffman’s 843-24-Alabaster. It had a good mix of the browns, with a hint of pink and green.

What do you think?

I know February is traditionally pink, even if there is only a hint in this palette…

To make this post a little pinker, how about a quote? “Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink.” Lilly Pulitzer.

Trust Yourself with Color! Do you doubt yourself when selecting colors? If you do, pick a photo you like, find the pleasing colors in it. Then, match those colors to fabric. You can then translate those colors into a quilt!

Happy Quilting!
