June 3rd is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

The terrors of the past few weeks have weighed heavily on me. I am not about to jump into any political discussions on this. During this time of shock and sadness, I needed to channel my energy and avoid the news to keep my own inner peace. At moments like this, I design. The need to be productive and positive is overwhelming. Lost Youth was created in that moment.

The pieced blocks are traditional blocks called Lost Children. Awareness ribbons are part of the sashing. The appliques are Forget-Me-Nots. Orange symbolizes Gun Violence Awareness. Meanwhile, the plain white background is for the innocence of children.

It has yet to be made, but it is on my list for this year.

May we all learn to be tolerant of each other and bring joy wherever we go.
