This month’s Quilt Block Mania theme is MEDICAL—and I’m feeling extra thankful.

As someone who has spent more time in hospitals and doctors’ offices than I care to count, I know how much heart, hustle, and hope our medical professionals bring to the table. Their care and curiosity have literally saved my life—more than once.

✨ I’m a recent breast cancer survivor, and I’ve been living with a rare autoimmune condition for over 20 years. My stomach doesn’t digest food the way it should, so I rely on supplements to get the nutrients I need. It’s not glamorous, and it’s definitely not a shortcut to weight loss (please trust me on that one!). But I’m still here, still quilting, and still grateful—for every doctor, nurse, tech, and researcher who’s helped me get this far.

This month’s block is my way of honoring them.

Yep—I’m continuing my year-long nutcracker series with a stethoscope-sporting sweetheart who’s ready to scrub in. You can even customize him:

• Use cord or embroidery floss to make a 3D stethoscope
• Add a ribbon + sequin for a head mirror (hello, retro flair!)
• Pop on a name tag for your favorite healthcare hero
