Some quilts tell a story. Wildfire is one of them.

This block-of-the-month pattern was born from watching the news each fire season — the smoke-filled skies, the exhausted firefighters, the communities reduced to ash. I designed Wildfire as a tribute to everyone who has fought these devastating blazes and to honor those who didn’t make it home.

Every block was chosen with intention. The California, Oregon, and Washington blocks represent the three states hit hardest by wildfire in recent years. Flame borders encircle the quilt center, evoking the relentless spread of fire across the landscape. The Broken Heart block speaks to loss — of homes, of lives, of entire communities — while the Red Cross block honors the relief workers and first responders who show up when everything else burns down. At the center sits an original star block — a design that grew from a single spark of inspiration into something entirely its own — radiating outward like an ember caught in the wind.

Made with Timeless Treasures’ stunning Tonga Ember collection in smoky grays, deep burgundies, harvest golds, and earthy greens, this quilt is as striking to look at as it is meaningful to make.
