When Laureen’s family relocated from New York to South Carolina, her teenage boys were thrown headfirst into a world they didn’t recognize — magnolias and mansions, live oaks draped in Spanish moss, shorts in December, and a social culture with its own rules. Cotillion classes. Manners lessons. Afternoon tea. They resisted most of it with the full force of their New York upbringing.

Nine different blocks bring the story to life: Tea Party and Tea Leaves honor the ritual itself, Pink Magnolia and Magnolia Bud bloom along the borders like the trees that lined every street, Cut Glass Pitcher and Cut Glass Tumbler sparkle like the good crystal brought out for company, Album blocks carry the quiet formality of a well-set table, and the Chain blocks run like lace trim along the edges — elegant, intricate, and more approachable than they look.
