Description
When I was a kid, I loved to walk along the roadside and pick wildflowers. In Upstate New York you would find daisies, black-eyed Susans, asters, chicory, crown vetch, and Queen Anne’s lace, to name a few. I know, for those of you purists, some of them are not native, but they grow wild along the roadside. It was usually a relaxing stroll, finding the blooms I liked best.
It did get a bit interesting one day. I was so focused on my flowers; I did not notice the impending danger until my grandfather was picking me up and running with me across the road. I didn’t even know my grandfather could run. He was such a gentleman! He had been watching from the porch and saw the neighbor’s bull working up his courage not too far from me, on his side of the fence. Experienced farmer that he was, my grandfather knew the bull could rush the fence and break through if he tried. So, I was whisked away from danger.
I thought of that day when I designed this floral quilt, with its log cabin blocks laid out like country fences.
Field of Flowers scatters pink and blue blooms across a meadow of soft florals from Dear Stella’s To the Point collection.
