Are you familiar with Dresden lace figurines? They are beautiful little pieces created by dipping actual lace in slip (porcelain liquid) and fired to create these amazingly delicate figures. It is a great example where one art is used to create another. I am fortunate to have such a pretty piece. A gift from my parents many years ago. It has a cherished place in my house and my heart.
This quilt pattern Dresden Dreams has a similar origin. These pretty Dresden Plates are the basis for a floral motif, which is even more beautiful than the original.
Timeless Treasure’s Tonga Vanilla seemed a perfect foundation for the quilt. A few tonal fabrics were added for contrast and voila – Dresden Dreams was created.
