As a kid, I built with everything I could get my hands on — blocks, Legos, sticks, stones, sand. I figured out early that you could build higher if you interlocked the pieces just right. That’s probably why I became an engineer. It wasn’t just that I loved to build. I wanted to know why it worked.
That’s the quiet logic behind this quilt. The Log Cabin blocks and the large Wreck the Halls focal squares alternate across the surface, but it’s the sashing that locks everything together — the same way interlocking courses hold a wall. Pull it out and the whole thing shifts. Leave it in and the quilt has a solidity that a simpler layout never quite achieves.
