Does the morning sky set your mood?

According to sailors, red sky in the morning, they take warning. Meaning, they are anxious about rough weather.

Foggy mornings brought dread for me, as my flights would generally be delayed or cancelled.

Rainy mornings usually meant slow traffic, which meant a tension headache before I even got to the office.

Golden skies like this one were a delight! They always put me in stellar mood. Glad to witness the beauty of the morning.

How about you?

This palette has a unique color scheme – purple and orange, with highlights of yellow and blue. Black provides contrast in the silhouettes.

So, what would a quilt look like in this palette?

I decided to take place these colors in a current quilt – Block of Ages.

I used the black sparingly, like the silhouettes of the trees. The yellow and blue were also simply highlights, as in the centerline of the picture.

The bulk of the quilt was the purple and orange combination. To get the purple I really wanted, I added 885-140 Petal. These colors were interspersed, much like the clouds.

You want to note which colors are pleasing next to each other in the image. That will indicate how they will play together in the quilt.

Trust Yourself with Color! Do you doubt yourself when selecting colors? If you do, pick a photo you like, find the pleasing colors in it. Then, match those colors to fabric. You can then translate those colors into a quilt!

Happy Quilting!
