Bling Tree – Beginning

Do you want to spend a little time honing your stitching skills during the holidays without feeling guilty? The Bling Tree Stitch Along is a great little project to learn how to embellish a little project for Christmas. Each day, you create a new ornament for your quilted tree.

You can use any sort of bling (buttons, beads, ribbons, lace, etc) to make each ornament. This is the time to experiment and try something new. It is a little present to yourself for the holidays.

The first step is to make your tree. Fuse your tree to the background. Secure it with a blanket or other stitch. Then, quilt a little bit around the background. Here is the Bling Tree Template.

I quilt the project first because the bling makes it hard to quilt later. To keep the back looking pretty, I bury the stitches in the batting. If you are curious about how to bury stitches or do simple beading, we have created a little tutorial for you.

Each day, I will post my ornament to give you a little inspiration. I would love to see what you are working on, so tag it with #blingtree

I hope you enjoy!
