Red Star Runner – Copyright 2020 – Tourmaline & Thyme Quilts

I have always been drawn to Scandanavian Redwork. I have used it in cross stitch for beautiful Christmas ornaments. It appears in sweaters and blankets. So why not in quilts?

Star blocks can be a challenge – Y-seams and angle piecing. So how can this block be more appealing? Remove or minimize those challenges. My design eliminates Y-seams. It uses a simple method to sew squares and rectangles together, then trim them to the angles. This makes piecing a breeze!

If you are interested in this festive runner, the pattern is available on my Etsy store.

Next up, a matching throw. My red and white fabric just arrived from Connecting Threads. Tomorrow, I will wash it – I always wash red before piecing. Then, I will make a Red Star throw to ensure the pattern works well. I will post photos when I get it done!

Back to my stitching!
