Stamp of Approval

Description

My dad was a stamp collector. Hours spent cataloging, hinging each one carefully into its album. After my sister and me, those stamps were his pride and joy. He’d try now and then to pull us into it. We picked up a little, but the bug never bit either of us the way it bit him.

What did stick with me was the look of those perforated edges — that unmistakable stamp border. The blocks framing this panel are my nod to it.  The stitched and flipped into a border echoes the edge of every stamp I ever admired over his shoulder. Paired with Hoffman’s Boneheads panel, it turns a striking skull-and-roses centerpiece into something that feels collected and cataloged — deliberately displayed, the way my dad would’ve done it.
