Description
Working with a dark panel is a delicate thing. Too much contrast in the framing and the panel itself disappears into the noise. Too little, and the whole quilt falls flat. The sweet spot is somewhere in between — and finding it was exactly the puzzle I set out to solve with Night Magic.
The inspiration came from my porch at dusk, watching moths appear and vanish in the lamplight. Not big, bold presences — just glimpses. Flickers. That quality of something beautiful that you almost miss. Quarter square triangles turned out to be the perfect way to capture it. Scattered through the pieced borders in wood, yellow, mustard, and deep black, they catch the eye just long enough, then let the stunning Into the Woods panel take center stage again.
Timeless Treasures’ nocturnal forest panel is the heart of this quilt — rich, dark, alive with detail — and every design decision around it was made in service of that panel, not in competition with it.
