Sometimes a panel is so atmospheric you just want to get out of its way — and then you realize it needs something to breathe. The Hoffman “Moonshade Watch” panel is moody and gorgeous, all barn owl, full moon, and weathered fence. But framing it with the moon felt too literal, and the fence felt too busy. The answer turned out to be right in between: the Cross Block. Light peeking through the slats. A little geometry that echoes the scene without competing with it.

Hoot Knows surrounds this haunting panel with a border of pieced Cross Blocks in Onyx, Gray, and a whisper of Mist — set against Onyx sashing and a final Charcoal striped outer border that grounds the whole design. The result is a quilt that lets the panel do the talking, with just enough structure to make it sing.
