When I was a kid, my mom and I would go out to gather princess pine for holiday wreaths — tiny little plants tucked under the big logging pines. It was one of those simple pleasures that felt like the holidays themselves. The princess pine is protected now, so I make my wreaths from fabric instead.

The challenge with this pattern was showing off a beautiful small panel surrounded by equally gorgeous prints. The solution was large blocks. But large blocks in a medallion can lose the holiday feeling fast — so the next challenge was making them work as a border without losing the festive spirit.

The answer was to let them gather. Quarter Square Triangles and Diamonds in Square ring the fussy-cut center panel like a wreath, the blocks themselves becoming the decoration. Four colorways — Black, Forest, Gold, and Silver — each tell a completely different story with the same Hoffman Christmas Wish fabrics.
