Gaia

Description

I am always amazed at how many cultures include a tree of life or creation:

• The Bible has both the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge.
• The Iroquois have the Celestial Tree.
• The Norse have Yggdrasil, which connects the nine realms.
• The Celts saw the tree of life as a symbol of rebirth.
• In Buddhism, the Bodhi tree is where the Buddha attained enlightenment.
• In Hinduism, Kalpavriksha is the wish-fulfilling tree.
• In East Asia, the Tree of Immortality can grant eternal life.
• For Aboriginal Australians, the tree is the connection of ancestors to the land, much like its symbolism in many African cultures.
• Even ancient Mesopotamia viewed the tree of life as a sacred symbol.

So it isn’t surprising to find trees at the center of stories like Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings. Trees give us fruit, spices, and the air we breathe. They represent our families and are decorated for holidays.

Gaia celebrates that universal tree. A giant panel glows at its heart, with leaves shimmering in sunset reds and ocean blues. Bold foundation pieced blocks mimic its stained-glass effect and frame it in two bed sizes.
