Before Riverdance made Irish dance a world sensation, my sister and I laced up our ghillies or hornpipe shoes every weekend with our instructor, Katie McDonough-Hill. We performed in venues around the state, entertaining folks with fast feet and high kicks. What we loved most? Linking arms in the reels and spinning each other around as fast as we could. Those were the carefree days.
