Description
In the winter, we would wait for the school bus in the garage, peering through the frosted windows. It was a shelter from the arctic cold of the Adirondacks. To see the road, we often had so heat the window with our breath to clear a hole in the frost. The image in the hole was so clear for a moment. Then, the icy would start to rim around it again, forming different patterns, framing the view outside.
That framing of images was the idea behind Frosted Windows. The fun fussy cut block in the center is our clear view through the window. The white frame is where the ice starts to reform. Then, the colorful piecing is like the spidery ice crystals that formed on the window overnight.
I really hope you enjoy this quilt with its optical illusions. The quilt is not set on point, the piecing just makes it look that way!
