Description

Latitude was inspired by the first time I finally saw the northern lights. To see them at our latitude, I had to use my phone to polarize the light—without it, the sky appeared almost black, with only a few stars visible. That experience stayed with me while designing this quilt.

The template border mimics the layered lenses and filters needed to reveal the color and glow of the aurora. As the border builds outward, the shapes and colors echo those shifting bands of light and blend naturally with the panel at the center. Designed as a confident-beginner project, Latitude uses repeated template pieces to create a dramatic border without complicated construction.
