Almost everywhere I have lived, deer have been nearby. Morning and evening they appear like magic — grazing, watching, teaching their little ones the ways of the woods. Then daylight comes and they simply vanish. How do they do that?

The fawns are my favorite. Tucked close to mom, speckled backs doing exactly what nature intended — disappearing into the dappled light of the forest floor. Patient. Alert. Quietly learning everything.
