Workshops

Workshops

Workshops that help quilters explore new techniques, play with design, and create something they’re excited to finish.

Whether your group is looking for something bold and dimensional, practical and

skill-building, or just plain fun—there’s an experience here for them.

Workshops are available in-person or via Zoom—whatever works best for your group.

Signature Experiences

Distinctive workshops that combine technique, design, and a little bit of magic.

Applismith™ (Dimensional by Design)

3-hour or 6-hour workshop

Transform your quilts with this three-dimensional fusible applique technique. During this 3-hour workshop, you will learn to

  • Quilt the background,
  • Make the templates and appliques,
  • Attach the appliques, and
  • Embellish the mini quilt to make it really pop.

Includes step-by-step construction and finishing guidance.

There are a variety of patterns to choose from. Pick the pattern that fits your style, skill level and/or intricacy. Once you learn the technique, join us for some fun with larger projects.

During the 6-hour workshop, you will turn that beautiful block into a project you can finish and display with pride.

Kits are available, which include all the materials except thread for sewing/quilting. Embellishment packs are also available.

“Took the Daisy class from Laureen today.   It was a wonderful class and a new technique for me.   Laureen is a wonderful teacher, giving options and answering questions.   I was able to keep up with the sewing and a completed project when the class was done.  Thanks Laureen!”

Whimsy – Wheels without Curves

(6-hour workshop)

Select a pattern from our Whimsy collection and learn how to make this signature style quilt without curved piecing. This 6-hour workshop can be offered in two 3-hour sessions.

The first session reveals the secret of piecing the center medallion.

The second session covers the addition of fusible applique to add character to the quilt. The finished quilt measures 48″ square, which is perfect for a wall hanging or table topper.

Includes piecing, appliqué, and border construction techniques.

Supplies are listed in the pattern required for the class. The pattern will be emailed after registration. Kits are also available.

Seasons

A guided, modular fusible appliqué experience designed to explore color, meaning, and personal expression.

👉 Because your quilts should be lived with—not just finished and folded away.

Over time, you’ll:

  • Create pieces that work together as a collection
  • Explore color and design in a way that actually sticks
  • Build projects you’ll use, gift, and enjoy season after season

👉 Start with one block… or build a whole collection.

Design & Personalization

Workshops that help quilters make confident design choices and add meaningful, personal touches to their work.

Canva for Quilters

Add lettering, labels, and meaningful details to your quilts—without complicated software.

👉 From names… to stories… to quilts that say something.

Explore how to:

  • Add names and dates with confidence
  • Create labels that feel like part of the design
  • Turn words and memories into meaningful quilt elements

Eye-Popping Panels

(3-hr Workshop)

Turn a panel you love into a quilt you’ll actually finish—without second-guessing every decision.

👉 Because buying the panel is easy… deciding what to do with it is where most quilts stall.

In this workshop, we’ll:

  • We’ll use a shared layout—then make it yours with fabric and finishing choices
  • Work through sizing and framing so everything feels balanced
  • Select fabrics that enhance the panel—not compete with it

You’ll leave with a clear plan—and the confidence to follow through.

Trust Yourself with Color

(3-hr workshop)

Do you want to

  1. Increase your confidence
  2. Create a common color language
  3. Practice what you learn
  4. Keep the quilt design you like but change it to the colors you love.

If you answered yes to any of these, this class is for you! We will immerse you in color theory and give you some tried and true tricks of the trade to ensure you can pick colors you love for your next quilting project.

We will help you understand why colors work together. And we will help you figure out where to use those colors for the biggest impact.

This class is only offered via Zoom as you will be shopping your own stash during the class!

“If you want to understand the how and why colors–sign up today!I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone who works with fabric. I finally understand why some fabrics just don’t “go” with the other fabrics in my selection. Laureen is a fabulous teacher. She breaks things down and even though this is a zoom class, it is very interactive.  Laureen’s class has given me not only the confidence to select fabrics for my quilts, but an understanding of why the colors “work”. Selecting fabrics is no longer a guessing game.  Also, I finally understand how to use a color wheel to build a color palette out of my fabrics.”

Techniques & Methods

Practical, skill-building workshops focused on process, precision, and beautiful results.

Skip a Stitch

(Variable project times ranging from 1 hour to = 3 days!)

Still stitching everything twice? Let’s fix that.

Most appliqué methods have you secure your shapes… and then quilt over them again.

Here, you combine those steps.

Fuse your appliqué, then secure and quilt in one pass—saving time, reducing bulk, and blending your design beautifully into the background.

Same result.
Less work.
Smarter process.

Perfect for quilters who want polished results—without extra steps.

Stitch & Flip Taos Treat

(Flexible timing—from a quick session to a multi-day workshop)

Love the look of foundation piecing—but not the paper?

In this class, we build bold, geometric designs using a stitch-and-flip method—no templates, no printing, and no paper to remove.

You’ll create strip sets by stitching and flipping pieces into place, then use quilt-as-you-go to assemble them into a finished runner as you sew.

That means:

  • no stacks of unfinished blocks
  • no wrestling with foundation paper
  • and no stitching the same areas twice

Just a smooth, efficient process that combines piecing and finishing into one continuous flow.

The result is a striking, traditional-style design—made with modern, practical techniques.
