Are you excited to make your golfer?
Are you looking for ideas on how to make him?
If so, I will share how I made my little guy.
First, I decided that I didn’t want to add the side borders. I will be combining these guys into a larger project. However, you can add borders if you like. I would recommend coordinating fabric to keep a theme.
I like to use fusible web, without the paper as it gives me a little more flexibility. And I don’t have to inverse the designs.
For my templates, I cheated and printed directly onto freezer paper! This save a lot of time and energy.
Then, I fished around in my scrap bin for just the right colors and patterns. The check was perfect for the pants. I wanted to keep with the “ugly” pants theme.
And I wanted a sweater look for his top. Most of my fabric had designs that were too large. So, I made my own. If you want to know how, watch this video.
Then, I worked on putting him together. When making complicated appliques, you need to break them down into bite-sized pieces. The order of addition is extremely important.
And it is easier to demonstrate than describe! Here is another video (in double time) to show you how.
Now that I have shared my secrets with you, I would love to see what you have done with them. Please comment on this post, or share your images in our Facebook Group – Stitching Thyme.
Happy Quilting!
